Recommended apps for your Android!

If you use an Android smartphone, you’ll want these apps!

Wheelmap.org

With the Wheelmap Android app users can find and mark accessible and less accessible public places on a virtual map.

With the provided information mobility-impaired people can easily find out which underground stations, restaurants, cafes or clubs around them are accessible and which are not. This increases their mobility and participation in society, creating more public awareness for their needs and rights.

Take care with the registration process, it’s worthwhile and the information is always growing.

Blue Badge Parking

The official companion app for BlueBadgeparking.com bringing the functionality of the website to your smart phone or tablet.

BlueBadgeparking.com has been online since 2006 and is the world’s leading disabled (handicap) parking map website. It is a crowd-sourcing project bringing together people around the world to build the most comprehensive and most up to date database of disabled parking spaces. Maps can be printed or downloaded to your SatNav device from the website.

On a smart phone or connected tablet, however, the Blue Badge Parking App becomes a mini SatNav itself. Using your devices in-built GPS you can track your location within the app and head for the nearest disabled parking place.

AA Days Out

The 2014 AA Days Out Guide app includes the following main features:

• Over 1,800 attractions in England, Scotland and Wales
• Price information
• Descriptions, including opening times and facilities
• Telephone numbers
• Search around your current location
• Search around a location of your choice
• Inspire Me

However, the AA Days Out Map does NOT allow you to filter places by wheelchair access 😦

We have emailed the development team advising them that this is an horrendous omission, but they’ve yet to ever reply.

You know what to do 😉

We really hope these apps prove useful to you as they have for us. Of course, if you have any recommendations for useful apps, please let everyone know by commenting below 🙂
